JUST THE TICKET FOR WINE AND GARDEN LOVERS
Tickets are now on sale for what promises to be one of Queensland’s premier wine events, Roma Street Parkland’s Moonlight Wine Tour, to be held at the Parkland on Friday April 27 and Saturday April 28.
Announcing the ticket release, the Honourable Judy Spence, Acting Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology, said that the event is one of the most pleasant ways she can think of to pass an autumn evening in Brisbane.
“Roma Street Parkland is one of the most beautiful parks in Australia, and lit up for the wine tour it is spectacular. Add twenty of Queensland’s best wineries, good food and entertainment to the mix and you have a marvellous night out,” she said.
Minister Spence said that the success of the 2006 Moonlight Wine Tour, held as part of Roma Street Parkland’s Fifth Birthday Celebrations, was the motivation to make the event an annual one.
“Around 2000 people attended the Moonlight Wine Tour last year, and the feedback was fantastic. The people who came along raved not only about the beauty of the Parkland but also the quality of the wine and the ambience of the event.
“With support from the Department of Tourism, Fair Trading and Wine Industry Development, we are able to showcase both Roma Street Parkland and the superb wines being produced in Queensland.”
Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading, Wine Industry Development and Women Margaret Keech encouraged Queenslanders to visit the Parklands for a taste of Queensland’s multi-award winning wines.
“Queensland wines are well and truly coming into their own and have been successful in winning many awards against wineries in some of Australia’s more traditional wine producing regions,” Mrs Keech said.
“A variety of our locally-produced reds, whites and fortifieds will be available to try and buy at the Parklands – there’s something guaranteed to satisfy every palate.”
The 2007 event is expected to be bigger and better than the 2006 event, with more wineries participating, more entertainment and improved dining options. Tickets cost $20 (including booking fees) in advance or $25 cash on the night, unless sold out. Tickets are available online at www.romastreetparkland.com or by phoning 1300 767 545.
