PNG LAND MANAGERS TO EXAMINE WORLD-LEADING SYSTEM
A delegation of Papua New Guinean land managers will study Queensland’s world-leading automated land titling system first-hand in Brisbane later this year.
The research tour will be hosted by the Department of Natural Resources and Water (NRW) and funded by an AusAID Australian Leadership Award Fellowship.
Minister for Natural Resources and Water Craig Wallace said three government officers would spend a week researching the capabilities of Queensland’s automated titling system and gathering land administration information.
“This delegation is the latest in a string of foreign delegates who have visited Queensland to see our world-recognised land title system, which gives property owners and investors secure tenure and ready access to available information,” he said.
A group of 10 Malaysian land administrators inspected Queensland’s titling system in December last year. The department has also hosted delegations from China, India and Brunei in recent years.
Mr Wallace said the foreign aid project would strengthen the good relations between Papua New Guinea and Queensland.
“This is all about building leaders capable of advancing social and economic policy reform and development goals back in their own countries and across the Asia-Pacific region,” he said.
“I would like to thank AusAID for their support to help Papua New Guinea develop its land titling system by learning from our expertise.”
Mr Wallace said the delegation would also work with private company Technology One during their visit.
