QUEENSLAND HEALTH RELEASES RESPONSE TO AMAQ

Acting Health Minister Desley Boyle today released Queensland Health’s response to the AMAQ’s Hospital Audit report.

Ms Boyle said while she welcomed third-party comment on State Government services, the AMAQ’s report failed to highlight a number of improvements in Queensland Health.

“Our public health system is experiencing a number of challenges which we are facing up to,” Ms Boyle said.

“We accept a number of concerns the AMAQ has raised.

“However, through a $10 billion Health Action Plan, we are getting on with the job of building the best possible health system for Queenslanders.

“We are now employing record numbers of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals in a renewed and restructured Queensland Health.

“We are also treating record numbers of patients and performing record amounts of surgery.

“This comprehensive list demonstrates that the State Government deserves some credit for the good progress that has been made in a relatively short time.”

Queensland Health’s response to the Hospital Audit is available on its website: www.health.qld.gov.au.
