ICT GRADUATES JOIN QUEENSLAND GOVERNMENT PROGRAM
The inaugural 35 graduates involved in the State Government’s new Information and Communication Technology career graduate development program have this week ‘logged-on’ to their new jobs.
Minister for Information and Communication Technology Robert Schwarten said the new program encouraged the graduates to pursue a successful career in the Smart State.
Mr Schwarten said the program is coordinated by the Queensland Government Chief Information Office.
“This work-based learning and development program aims to manage the Queensland Government’s demand for ICT skills in what is a fiercely-competitive job market,” Mr Schwarten said.
“The first intake of graduates has been placed in a range of ICT roles, such as business analysis, enterprise architecture, and network and server support, across nine government agencies and the Brisbane City Council.
“Mentoring and coaching have also been arranged.”
“Applications have closed for this year, but we’re already looking to next year’s intake, with promotional activities at careers fairs and universities in the coming months,” Mr Schwarten said.
