MORE CAR PARKS FOR NAMBOUR HOSPITAL
Queensland Health has secured land adjacent to Nambour General Hospital for additional staff parking, Acting Health Minister Desley Boyle said today.
Ms Boyle said the land would help alleviate the growing demand for car parking at the hospital.
“Queensland Health will purchase seven properties adjoining the hospital for a cost of $2.6 million,” she said.
“With a total area of approximately 4799m2 the site will deliver an additional 160 staff car parking spaces.
“The negotiations for the purchase of these properties are complete and settlement will be finalised by June 2007.”
Ms Boyle said the additional parking would make the hospital more accessible for patients, staff and visitors.
“The Member for Nicklin Peter Wellington has made a very strong case for extra car parking at Nambour Hospital,” she said.
“As a result of Mr Wellington’s hard work on behalf of his constituents, Queensland Health engaged the Department of Public Works to identify an appropriate solution.
“The Queensland Government has been working over a number of years to deliver more car parks at Nambour Hospital.
“So I am pleased to announce this solution today.”
Ms Boyle said demolition and construction works would get underway later this year.
“These site works are expected to cost about $500,000,” she said.
