BUILDING SERVICES AUTHORITY TO EXPAND OFFICE IN MARYBOROUGH
Maryborough residents will have access to a wider range of services from the Queensland Building Services Authority (BSA), Minister for Public Works, Housing and Information and Communication Technology, Rob Schwarten, said today.
“Previously the BSA has offered limited services from a satellite office in Maryborough but, with the building boom in the area, the BSA saw a need to provide local residents and contractors with more comprehensive building advice and services,” Mr Schwarten said.
“Maryborough’s population of 26,000 is rapidly growing as the sea change phenomenon gains momentum.
"Since 2001 building activity in the Wide Bay - Burnett Burnett region has almost doubled and there are no signs of slowdown with more than 6,200 job starts lodged with the BSA last financial year.
“More than 5% of the BSA’s licensees are living and working in the area and we need to provide these contractors with a local support and guidance.”
BSA General Manager Ian Jennings said the Maryborough office provides residents with licensing, dispute management and resolution, home warranty insurance and customer services.
“There is also a wide range of educational materials available and residents are welcome to visit the office to speak to one of the BSA’s four fully trained staff about any building matters,” he said.
“The BSA’s Maryborough team is led by Mick Rendell, who has 40 years’ experience in the building industry, and he has an Open Builder licence.”
BSA's Maryborough Office operates from 8:30 - 4:30 weekdays and is located in Lennox Place on the corner of Lennox and Kent Streets.
