The Honourable Craig Wallace
RECORD $2.3M WEEKLY PAYMENT FOR WATER TANKS AND WASHING MACHINES
The Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme last week paid a record $2.34 million in rebates throughout Queensland for water tanks, water-efficient washing machines and dual-flush toilet suites.
Water Minister Craig Wallace said the record occurred after 25 new processing staff completed training the week before.
Rebates were paid for 4663 water-saving products including:
·1999 rainwater tanks
·1529 water-efficient washing machines
·512 pool cover/rollers
·299 shower heads
·296 dual-flush toilet suites, and
·28 greywater systems.
“The Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme has been an unprecedented success with a flood of rebate applications being received,” Mr Wallace said.
“I am pleased that the 25 new staff members who have recently completed training are approving a record weekly number of applications,” he said.
Mr Wallace announced last week that over $20 million in rebates had been paid under the scheme.
Late last year, from $300,000 to $700,000 was being paid weekly in rebates. The previous weekly rebate record was $2 million in late January/early February this year.
The Home WaterWise Rebate Scheme offers rebates including up to $1000 for water tanks, $200 for 4-star or better water-rated washing machines and $150 for dual-flush toilets.
