NEW TOURISM WEBSITE SETS RECORD

Tourism Queensland’s new state-of-the-art website is already breaking records, with 55,000 hits in just four days.

Tourism Minister Margaret Keech said www.whereelse.com.au was set to become the most successful Queensland tourism campaign website ever.

Mrs Keech said the site was launched this week to coincide with the Government-funded $6.5 million national tourism television and outdoor advertising campaign.

“In just four days the site has already experienced record traffic,” Mrs Keech said.

“The new ‘Where Else But Queensland’ website has been designed to allow holiday decision makers to interact with a unique range of Queensland holiday experiences.," she said.

“People are becoming increasingly time poor and the way people make decisions and book holidays have changed.

“By using the latest in internet technology, we are making it extremely easy to visit Queensland.

“Tourists spend $18 billion annually in Queensland and the industry employs 136,000 people.

“Significant work is being done in consultation with industry, to ensure Queensland continues to capture domestic holidaymakers.”

Mrs Keech said the website was also offering the opportunity for people to select their favourite Queensland holiday experiences and win a Queensland holiday each year for five years.

“Visitors are encouraged to view a range of Queensland holiday experiences and vote for their top five to win," she said.

“The site also has a Queensland souvenir shop and a simple online booking tool to purchase unique Queensland holiday deals.

“The website is the perfect complement to the new national television commercial and is being promoted on all television, print, outdoor and digital advertising associated with the 'Where Else But Queensland' campaign.

“Through the Queensland Government’s 10-year, $48 million Queensland Tourism Strategy (QTS) and the new ‘Where Else But Queensland’ campaign, we are ensuring Queensland remains at the forefront of world holiday destinations.”
