The Honourable Warren Pitt
Nominate an achiever for Young Volunteer Awards
Time is running out if you want to nominate a young achiever in your community for the 2007 Queensland Young Volunteer Awards.
These awards provide the opportunity to recognise and reward outstanding volunteer efforts by young Queenslanders.
Youth Minister Warren Pitt reminded community members to nominate outstanding youth volunteers by Friday, 23 February 2007.
“These awards will not only put the spotlight on our young achievers, they will also increase awareness of their growing contribution to the volunteering community,” Mr Pitt said.
“Young Queenslanders aged between 12 and 25 who are currently involved in volunteering activities are eligible to be nominated.
“I encourage community leaders and organisations to nominate a young local person or group of young people they believe deserve to be recognised as part of the Young Volunteer Awards.”
Previous winners include people working in community activities as diverse as wildlife rescue and aged care and as part of organisations such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Rural Fire Service.
Eight winners will each receive $2000, to be presented at a special award ceremony in Brisbane during National Youth Week in April.
