NEW HOLIDAY WEBSITE A WINNER
Queensland has launched a new state-of-the-art tourism website as part of a Beattie Government-funded $6.5 million tourism campaign, Tourism Minister Margaret Keech announced today.
Mrs Keech said the new website (www.whereelse.com.au) had been launched to coincide with a national television and outdoor advertising campaign selling the virtues of Queensland holidays.
“The new ‘Where Else But Queensland’ website uses images from the 10,000 metres of breathtaking Queensland footage shot for the new television campaign, and partners it with the latest in website technology,” Mrs Keech said.
“Visitors to the new website can view, and interact with, a full range of Queensland holiday experiences.
“You can even win a Queensland holiday per year for five years by selecting your favourite Queensland holiday experiences.
“The site also has a Queensland souvenir shop and provides an online booking tool to purchase unique Queensland holiday deals.”
Mrs Keech said the site would be promoted on all television, print and digital advertising associated with the 'Where Else But Queensland' campaign.
“The new website is an important part of the Beattie Government’s commitment to growing the state’s $18 billion tourism industry,” she said.
“People are becoming increasingly time poor and, by having an interactive website like this, we are providing potential visitors with the tools to easily research and book a Queensland holiday.
“Through the Queensland Tourism Strategy (QTS) we are implementing a range of new and innovative initiatives to keep the state at the forefront of national and world holiday destinations.
“As a government and industry, we must not become complacent but instead continue to open up new markets and find new ways of communicating with them.
“The new website will play a major role in increasing visitation, expenditure and employment opportunities to all of Queensland’s tourism regions.”
