MORE SCHOOL ROOFS TO BE RAISED IN 2007

Education and Training Minister, Rod Welford, today announced that 70 state schools had been scheduled to have asbestos roofs replaced between February and June.
“Another 132 asbestos roofs at 70 state schools throughout Queensland will be replaced during this period,” Mr Welford said.
“The availability of skilled trades people and fine weather has made it possible to continue to accelerate the replacement program.
“We are on target to pass the 800 mark in the replacement program by the end of June, weather permitting. This will be more than 85% of all the roofs scheduled for replacement.”
Mr Welford said the schools where roofs were scheduled to be replaced in the February-June period were:
