Minister for Emergency Services
The Honourable Pat Purcell

Boost for Buderim paramedics

Paramedics at the Buderim ambulance station received a boost today with the official handover of two new vehicles and a defibrillator.

The equipment was handed over by Emergency Services Minister Pat Purcell in a ceremony at the Buderim ambulance station.

The Ford ‘F’ Series vehicle is worth $178,000, and the Mercedes vehicle is worth about $130,000, and both are fitted with state-of-the-art pre-hospital care equipment worth a further $8000. The Lifepak 12 defibrillator is worth $19,471.

Mr Purcell said the Beattie Government was proud to support the State’s hard working paramedics.

“Paramedics have a vital role in our community, and are at the forefront of caring for the health and safety of Queenslanders.

“It is essential they have the best equipment, facilities and training possible. The vehicle and defibrillator being handed over today are an example of that.

“There is no doubt the new equipment is a valuable addition, but they would be little use without the great people who use them.

"The public consistently votes paramedics as the most trusted profession in the country. This vote of confidence by community members is testament to the professionalism and commitment of QAS paramedics.

“I know that the Queensland public, and the thousands of patients they treat, are grateful for their dedication.”

Mr Purcell also thanked the Buderim Local Ambulance Committee for its ongoing support for local paramedics.

The Lifepak 12 Cardiac Monitor/Defibrillator handed over today was purchased by the Buderim Local Ambulance Committee after obtaining a grant from the Queensland Government Gaming Fund.

“Local Ambulance Committees have an important role in supporting paramedics right across the State and I commend them on their ongoing commitment to the Queensland Ambulance Service,” Mr Purcell concluded.
