Minister for Health
The Honourable Stephen Robertson

Dr Patrik Tosenovsky

It’s important to recognise that Dr Patrik Tosenovsky has had no adverse findings or judgements made against him by a coroner's inquiry that is still continuing.

He works as a deemed specialist at Townsville Hospital under the close supervision of a senior doctor as required by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

He is the subject of regular clinical audits of his performance - all of which, I am advised, have reported his clinical practices are good and have identified no issues regarding his surgical skills.

Dr Tosenovsky has never made any secret of his involvement in the coroner's inquiry.

I am advised he declared his involvement to Queensland Health prior to his interview for the Townsville job.

Dr Patrik Tosenovsky was issued registration by the Medical Board of Queensland in June 2006 after meeting all the application requirements to work as a deemed specialist in Queensland.

These requirements include the Board’s receipt of Dr Tosenovsky’s disciplinary history in the form of a Certificate of Good Standing from all jurisdictions where he had previously held registration, and a positive assessment of his skills, training and qualifications by the relevant specialist College.

He holds a Certificate of Good Standing from the British General Medical Council.

The Medical Board of Queensland is seeking further information from medical registration regulators in the UK in relation to media reports alleging a link between Dr Tosenovsky’s practice and the coroner’s inquiry.

Townsville Hospital is also in contact with the Medical Board and the College about the matter.
