PALM ISLAND MATTER
Attorney-General Kerry Shine has met with the Acting Crown Solicitor today to discuss the appointment of the person to provide an independent second view relating to the Palm Island matter.
The Palm Island matter relates to the death of Mulrunji in November 2004.
“In our meeting, we discussed a number of eminent people from within Queensland and interstate that could be approached to provide a second view of the ODPP’s decision,” Mr Shine said.
“I do not intend to publicly canvas the possible names.”
“It remains the intention to confirm the appointment by the end of the week.”
The independent opinion is being sought on the basis of the material provided to Mr Shine by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
