RANGERS AND POLICE PLAN FOR SAFE CHRISTMAS AT INSKIP AND TEEWAH

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) and the Queensland Police Service will join forces to crack down on unruly and illegal activity at the popular Inskip Point and Teewah Beach camping areas over the festive season.

Environment Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr said QPWS rangers and police would regularly patrol the camping areas and beaches over the Christmas and New Year holidays to ensure visitors complied with regulations.

“Inskip Point and Teewah Beach are wonderful camping areas which boast coloured sand cliffs and sweeping beaches, but antisocial behaviour by small numbers of holiday-goers has led to problems with visitor safety, amenities and environmental issues.

“We don’t want the actions of a few people to ruin the experience for everyone.”

Ms Nelson-Carr said people should know the rules and do the right thing or they would be fined and/or evicted.

“Camping at Inskip Point and Teewah Beach is a special experience for many families over the Christmas-New Year holiday period.

“Respect the rights of others and the environment and you’ll have a great holiday.”

Road rules apply on the beach, dogs are only allowed at Inskip, and people should bring portable toilets for human waste disposal in the facilities at Freshwater and Rainbow Beach.
