Minister for Environment and Multiculturalism
The Honourable Lindy Nelson-Carr
INSKIP CAMPERS URGED TO BE PREPARED AND NOT MISS OUT
People planning to camp at the popular Inskip Point and Teewah Beach during the Christmas break are being urged to ensure they have the proper permits.
Environment Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr said capacity at Inskip Point and TeewahBeach was limited, so campers must purchase permits before they arrive.
Campers without permits could face on-the-spot fines of $50 at Inskip Point and $75 at Cooloola and/or be forced to leave.
“Thousands of people like to camp in this spot over Christmas so it’s important that people reserve their places so they don’t miss out.
“Campers are advised to book as early as possible, and book for the whole time you intend to stay as you may not be able to extend your visit if all campsites are booked out,” Ms Nelson-Carr said.
Camping permits will not be issued on site by Queensland Parks and Wildlife Officers, and self registered camping is no longer available.
Camping costs $4.50 per person per night and children under five are free. Family discounts are also available.
Permits can be purchased from QPWS offices/information centres at RainbowBeach, Tewantin and the EPA Customer Service Centre, 160 Ann Street, Brisbane; by phoning
13 13 04; and on-line at www.epa.qld.gov.au/camping.
