Stanwell powers into the future with new CEO
Mines and Energy Minister Geoff Wilson today announced a new Chief Executive Officer had been appointed to lead the Stanwell Corporation – one of Queensland’s largest electricity generators.
Stanwell Corporation supplies 20% of the state’s electricity needs through its coal-fired, wind and hydro generating power stations around the state.
Mr Wilson said that the new Chief Executive Officer would be Kim Wood, the Managing Director of Power and Water in the Northern Territory.
Power and Water is the Northern Territory's premier provider of electricity, water and sewerage services and is one of the largest businesses in the Northern Territory, employing 750 people.
Mr Wood has been with Power and Water since 2002. He also led Victorian electricity transmission business GPU PowerNet and was Managing Director of City West Water. He holds a Masters of Business Administration and is a Chartered Professional Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers, Australia.
“Mr Wood is well qualified to lead Stanwell through an exciting period in Queensland’s electricity industry.
“He brings with him wide-ranging experience in the power industry which should further strengthen Stanwell’s position in the state’s electricity market,” Mr Wilson said.
The appointment was approved by Governor in Council.
Mr Wilson welcomed Mr Wood’s appointment to Stanwell Corporation.
“I look forward to working closely with Mr Wood as he will play a crucial role in delivering Stanwell’s strategic goals,” Mr Wilson said.
