Premier and Minister for Trade
The Honourable Peter Beattie
PREMIER TABLES REPORT ON CORPORATE PATRONAGE
Premier Peter Beattie today tabled in State Parliament a full list for 2006 patronage of corporate suites used by the Government at Suncorp Stadium and the Gabba.
“At Suncorp Stadium and the Gabba respectively there is one corporate suite available for use by guests nominated by the Government,” Mr Beattie said.
“These facilities are an important tool in marketing the activities of Government to both national and international visitors.
“They provide a forum to promote Government initiatives and explore new opportunities and ideas that may benefit Queensland business and industry.”
The list includes attendees for each of the functions hosted by Government Ministers for the 2006 calendar year to date including the Robbie Williams Concerts this week. The information is available on the internet at - http://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/view/legislativeassembly/tableOffice/documents/TP_PDFS/TP705-2006.pdf
“Ministers will continue to utilise the corporate facilities available at Suncorp Stadium and the Gabba when appropriate to advance the business and development of Queensland,” Mr Beattie said.
“This is an appropriate and justified form of corporate entertainment that has potential benefits to business, industry and Queensland taxpayers.
“As Premier I have hosted both suites on a number of occasions.
“Guests I have invited come from diverse backgrounds including the Editor of the Courier Mail, former Premiers, the Consul of the People’s Republic of China, the Chief Justice of Queensland, and the General President of AgForce.
“There have also been representatives from local government, media organisations, and tertiary institutions as well as a host of other professions.”
Mr Beattie said he would host the corporate suite at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night for the Robbie Williams Concert.
“I have invited representatives from a number of local charity organisations to attend the Robbie Williams concert. This includes the Salvation Army, Rosies Youth Mission, the Brisbane Youth Service, The Smith Family, St Vincent de Paul and the Wesley Mission,” he said.
“In addition to a staff representative from each of the organisations I have asked them to extend their invitation to two young people that benefit from the services their organisation provides.”
