FINAL RESULTS FOR SCHOOL LEAVERS ON WAY
The anxious wait for final results is almost over for graduating Year 12 students.
Education and Training Minister, Rod Welford, visited the Queensland Studies Authority today to inspect final sorting and packing for the mailout of 40,317 Senior Certificates to Queensland Year 12 students.
More than 26,800 of these students will also receive a Tertiary Entrance Statement containing their Overall Position (OP) and Field Positions (FPs).
“Students are often desperate to find out whether their OP or FPs will be good enough to gain entry into their preferred tertiary course,” Mr Welford said.
“Students who can’t wait for the postie to deliver their results next Monday can access them two days earlier by registering for the Smart OP Service.
Mr Welford said the Smart OP Service allowed students to access their results online, via telephone or SMS from 9am, Saturday 16 December. Students have until 5pm this Thursday (14 December) to register for the Smart OP service at www.smartop.qsa.qld.edu.au.
Mr Welford said 26,229 students would receive an OP this year, of which 646 will receive an OP1 and 13,854 will receive an OP of 1-12.
“More than 21,000 students have completed some form of vocational education and training, which will be recorded on their Senior Certificate,” he said.
“And 576 students from 176 schools will receive a Certificate of Post-Compulsory School Education, which recognises the achievements of students with learning disabilities.”
Mr Welford said it was important students carefully considered their post-school options once they knew their Year 12 results.
“In addition to university courses, there are many exciting and rewarding pathways available including TAFE certificate and diploma courses, apprenticeships and traineeships and, of course, work,” he said.
“Students should make use of the expert advice available from tertiary institutions, the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre, careers counsellors, their parents and other networks.”
Students can go online with the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre at www.qtac.edu.au until Wednesday 3 January to lodge any change to their tertiary preferences. Tertiary offers can be accessed via the QTAC website from 1.00am on 11 January.
They will also be published in The Courier-Mail and selected regional newspapers on Friday 12 January and posted to students on the same day for delivery around 15 January.
