Caboolture service to continue assisting families and children
A Caboolture family support service will continue its vital work with at risk children and families, thanks to a Queensland Government grant totalling $480,000.
The acting Minister for Communities Kerry Shine said the funding would be allocated to the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre’s relationships assistance and family therapy services over a period of three years.
Mr Shine said the funding would assist the centre to continue providing outstanding support to families with children, as well as to young people in vulnerable situations or those at risk of entering the statutory child protection system.
“In the past eight months, this service has directly assisted nearly 200 children, many aged five years and under – so it is clearly a much needed and enormously important service for the local community,” he said.
The Member for Pumicestone Carryn Sullivan said relationships assistance and family therapy services had been identified as a significant resource to support families in Caboolture.
“This service has helped numerous Caboolture families and is now attracting referrals from other areas of government and key service providers in the district,” she said.
“News of the funding approval is very welcome as it will ensure this valuable community service continues to assist families and children who are most at risk in my electorate.”
The funding is part of the Department of Communities Family Support initiative, which supports services dealing with prevention and early intervention strategies, as well as providing an exit point for those transitioning from the Referral for Active Intervention service.
