NRW OFFERS FODDER ADVICE IN CHARLEVILLE, ROMA AND EMERALD

The Department of Natural Resources and Water is offering free advice on applying for a fodder harvesting permit to landholders in Charleville, Roma and Emerald.

Minister for Natural Resources and Water Craig Wallace said landholders can make an appointment with a Department officer to get one-on-one information and assistance.

Mr Wallace said vegetation management officers would be available for individual meetings with landholders to discuss their circumstances and assist with permit applications.

“I’m pleased to announce this new service for people seeking an ongoing fodder harvesting permit,” Mr Wallace said.

“So often, people dealing with forms have questions and issues that can be dealt with very quickly and simply if only they can get to talk to an expert.

“This appointments system will give people an opportunity to have a one-on-one discussion with a specialist vegetation officer.”

Mr Wallace said the announcement of the new service follows the release last week of a new plain-English guide for applicants.

“This is another example of the department’s determination to make the vegetation management system easier for landholders to work with.”

Landholders can also receive a free kit that includes base maps, a satellite image of their property and other information needed to lodge their fodder harvesting application.

“We are helping landholders to know what they can do with fodder harvesting, not what they cannot. And we are doing it in an easy-to-understand way.”

* Appointments to see a vegetation management officer at Charleville, Roma or Emerald for help with ongoing fodder applications can be made by phoning any NRW service centre.
