The Honourable Peter Beattie

PREMIER BRINGS SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS TO TOWNSVILLE

Premier Peter Beattie will bring some Christmas cheer to seniors in Townsville when he hosts the annual Premier’s Seniors Christmas concert on Thursday 7 December.

Premier Beattie said he was excited to host the free Christmas concert and was looking forward to helping seniors in Townsville celebrate the festive season.

“Christmas is a wonderful time of year where families and friends come together to celebrate this important occasion,” Mr Beattie said.

“Whether it is through prayer, wishes, carolling, feasting or gift giving, Queenslanders will all celebrate Christmas in their own special way.

“I am delighted to invite seniors from Townsville to join me at the Christmas concert and enjoy some classic and contemporary tunes, as well as sing-alongs to some of our favourite carols.”

The concert will be held at the Edmund Rice Hall, Ignatius Park College, 368 Ross River Road, Cranbrook, Townsville from 10.30am to 11.30am and will be followed by a morning tea.

The concert will be led by professional musicians and will also feature a performance by the Annandale State School choir.

The concert series commenced in 2001 and has been held at regional areas throughout Queensland including Bundaberg, Emerald, Hervey Bay, Beerwah, Charters Towers, Gold Coast, Atherton, Toowoomba, Ipswich and Redcliffe.

There are two concerts in this year’s series, with the second being held on Thursday 14 December at Shailer Park in Brisbane.

Entry to the concert is free, however places are limited. Seniors are encouraged to call (07) 3405 5215 to secure their place. Group bookings are welcome.
