State Govt funds early intervention services for children with a disability
Two organisations will share in nearly $3 million to develop statewide early intervention services for children with a physical disability.
Disability Services Minister Warren Pitt said funds were made available under Disability Services Queensland’s Strengthening Non Government Organisations strategy.
Mr Pitt announced the funding initiative today to coincide with International Day of People with a Disability.
“This early intervention strategy is targeted at providing and enhancing the intensive support required for children with a disability and relieving stress on families,” he said.
“Extremely high demands are placed on families with a child aged up to eight years with significant and high support needs.”
The two organisations, Cerebral Palsy League of Queensland ($1.96 million) and Montrose Access ($930,250), will receive funds to provide linking and early intervention programs to support families across Queensland.
“These specialist organisations will work to meet identified gaps in services and provide parents with information to help them access appropriate assistance,” Mr Pitt said.
