Premier and Minister for Trade
The Honourable Peter Beattie
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR RAIN: PREMIER
Premier Peter Beattie said tomorrow’s national day of prayer for rain was an opportunity for Queenslanders to show their support for those doing it tough in the drought.
“As the drought worsens we as a community have to stick together and show that we have the will to find solutions to help get through this,” he said.
“The National Council of Churches day of prayer on Sunday is a chance to do just that.
“Queenslanders can take part by making time on Sunday to pray for rain or joining a service across the State.
“The Government is continuing to work hard on building the water grid and doing everything in our power to provide water security for the long term.
“Tomorrow is a time to pray for those who are facing the full brunt of the drought right now.
“The drought continues to hurt people on the land, farm families and the communities across Queensland who depend on them.”
The national day of prayer for rain follows on from the special time of prayer earlier this month organised by the heads of Churches in Queensland.
