The Honourable Warren Pitt
Storm and Cyclone Survival Guide a handy companion
Ergon Energy has launched a public education campaign to help people across regional Queensland in the coming storm and cyclone season.
Minister for Communities and Member for Mulgrave Warren Pitt said Ergon Energy had delivered around 400,000 copies of the Storm and Cyclone Survival Guide to homes throughout the state.
“The guide sets out what steps people should take before, during and after a storm or cyclone,” Mr Pitt said.
“The brochure also explains changes to some of the terms the Bureau of Meteorology uses to describe wind conditions.
“The brochure has a map for people to plot the path of a cyclone or storm, emergency contact details, electrical safety hints and information about Ergon Energy’s preparations for the summer,” he said.
Mr Pitt said Ergon Energy had also developed a Storm Centre on its website, www.ergon.com.au.
“If a major storm or cyclone affects the region, the Storm Centre will be updated with information about electricity outages and Ergon Energy plans to restore power to households and businesses,” he said.
Mr Pitt said anyone who did not receive a copy of the booklet in their mailbox could access it from Ergon Energy's Storm Centre website.
