Communities and Disability Services annual reports now available online
The annual reports detailing the 2005-06 operations of the Department of Communities and Disability Services Queensland have been tabled in State Parliament and are now available online.
The Minister for Communities, Disability Services, Seniors and Youth, Warren Pitt, said he was pleased with the achievements made across his portfolio during the past year.
“The annual reports provide a detailed account of the operational and financial performance of the departments,” Mr Pitt said.
“It also provides me with an analysis of their performance against the activities set out in their Strategic Plans, and this ensures they focus on achieving their main goals.”
Mr Pitt said the Department of Communities had significantly increased the level and availability of services it provided during the financial year.
“Some of the highlights for 2005-06 included providing $58.8 million in grants for homelessness services across the state, coordinating more than 1900 youth justice conferences, as well as licensing and monitoring child care services,” he said.
Mr Pitt said that Disability Services Queensland had also made significant progress.
“One of the most important achievements was the introduction of improved safeguards to protect the rights of people with a disability, with the passing of the Disability Services Act 2006,” Mr Pitt said.
“Other significant achievements included an increase in the number of service users that were supported, and the provision of an additional 703 respite services.”
