Three schools in the Burdekin district will share in more than $31,000 in emergency maintenance funds, Public Works Minister Robert Schwarten announced today.
Mr Schwarten said $14,861 had been approved to replace more than 300 metres of chain wire fencing at East Ayr State School while mobile grandstands at Home Hill State School would be refurbished at a cost of $9,599 and the Stuart State School tuckshop would be upgraded at a cost of $7,248.
“Each of these projects is important to the respective school communities and I am delighted that funding from my department will see these tasks completed,” Mr Schwarten said.
“The Department of Public Works emergency maintenance fund exists for urgent projects that are too large to complete under regular maintenance programs.
“QBuild – the State Government’s construction and maintenance organisation – will manage the work in partnership with each of the schools to minimise disruption to classes.”
Mr Schwarten said the funding further demonstrated the State Government’s continued commitment to ensuring school buildings and grounds were properly maintained.
