Minister for Transport and Main Roads, Paul Lucas today announced that Queensland Motorways has appointed Moggill Construction Pty Ltd as the successful tenderer to upgrade the Mt Lindesay Highway on-ramp to the Logan Motorway.

“The $2.5 million project incorporates the Mt Lindesay Highway/Logan Motorway interchange on-ramp, allowing for improved access to the Logan Motorway for motorists,” Mr Lucas said.

The works will include the realignment of the ramp, with the removal of the right hand curve and the easing of the second left hand curve.

Queensland Motorways CEO, Phil Mumford, said the upgrade was essential to ensure the high standard of the motorway.

“Works on the upgrade are scheduled to begin on Monday 6 November, and should be completed by March 2007,” Mr Mumford said.

The on-ramp work will include earthmoving and pavement works, construction of a retaining wall, relocating signs, street lighting and safety barriers.

“Motorists should experience minimal delays during construction, with the current motorway speed limit retained at 100km/hr during peak periods,” Mr Mumford said.

“Speed limits will be reduced to 40km/h on the on-ramp for the duration of the works. The Logan Motorway through-lanes will remain at 100km/h during peak times Monday to Friday, with varying speeds permitted at other times,” he said.

In early September, tenders were invited for construction of the new Mt Lindesay Highway on-ramp. Tenders closed on 28 September, with tenders received from four contractors.

“Moggill Construction Pty Ltd was awarded the contract as they provided the best value and experience to undertake these works,” Mr Mumford said.

Queensland Motorways will be notifying motorists of the changed traffic conditions via public notices in newspapers, letters to key stakeholders and also through the use of variable message signs.
