Minister for State Development, Employment and Industrial Relations
The Honourable John Mickel
Christmas holiday and trading hours information for 2006/2007 is now available on the newly revamped Wageline website, Employment and Industrial Relations Minister John Mickel said today.
“Public holidays and extended trading hours can raise a number of employment issues for employers,” he said.
“Comprehensive information on these topics on the Wageline site gives employers the information they need.
“Wageline has just completed a revamp of its website with easier navigation and enhanced search functions, you can find a state award and pay rates in the A-Z listing or by job or workplace, check your pay, compare awards, find links to related sites and get information on public holidays, trading hours and other services.”
Wageline’s state-wide wages and award information service is run by the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations and provides industrial information on Queensland state awards and agreements, general employment conditions, public holidays, trading hours and other legislative matters.
In addition to the 240,000 calls taken by Wageline’s phone service last financial year, more than one million client visits were made to the website, up more than 160,000 visitors from the year before.
Mr Mickel said this increased patronage highlighted the fact that the website is a reliable and now even easier way to get timely and accurate industrial relations information.
“The site features the Compare What’s Fair calculator which can compare any Australian Workplace Agreement you may be offered with standard industry awards to see if you are getting a good deal,” Mr Mickel said.
