Minister for Natural Resources and Water
The Honourable Kerry Shine
Cultural heritage organisations across the State will be able to apply for financial assistance under a new program from the Queensland Government.
Natural Resources and Water Minister Kerry Shine said grants of up to $10,000 would be available under the Cultural Heritage Body Grants Program. Applicants must be cultural heritage bodies registered under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 or the Torres Strait Islander Act 2003.
Mr Shine said the funding would enable groups to purchase a range of day-to-day items.
“The funding is designed to help these groups carry out their everyday functions,” Mr Shine said.
“It may involve items such as printing, stationery, office supplies, storage solutions, global positioning systems, digital cameras and associated software.”
“A grant project manager employed within the Department of Natural Resources and Water (NRW) will work directly with the applicant to help finalise their applications.”
Applications will be assessed by a special panel, which will make recommendations on each application to the Director of the Cultural Heritage Coordination Unit within NRW.
