Two weeks to have say on Integrated Planning Act: Fraser
Planning Minister Andrew Fraser today urged Queenslanders to have their say about the State Government’s proposed changes to planning laws.
Mr Fraser said the full-scale review of the Integrated Planning Act, which began in February, would be finalised when public consultation on the Dynamic Planning for a Growing State discussion paper closes on 3 November.
“We are proposing 86 improvements to make Queensland’s planning legislation more effective and user-friendly,” Mr Fraser said.
“There is a specific section in the Discussion Paper, which looks at community involvement in planning, where we would like to hear the views of the residents of Queensland.
“Queenslanders will be particularly interested in the proposals to improve the transparency of planning decisions, give communities greater access to information on planning and development in their area, and provide more opportunities to get involved in the planning and decision-making process.
“We developed this discussion paper with input from councils, developers and environmental groups, but now we need to hear the views of the public.
“Once we have collated everyone’s views and ideas, we will begin immediately implementing the improvements.”

Public consultation closes at 5pm on Friday 3 November 2006.
