New Minister joins case against Jutland Street Development
Local Government and Planning Minister Andrew Fraser today announced that he had authorised joining the court case about the proposal to site a resin blending plant at Jutland Street in Loganlea.
Mr Fraser said, on my first full day in the job I spoke with new Member for Waterford, Evan Moorhead, about this matter.
“Mr Moorhead told me the strength of community feeling against this development,” Mr Fraser said.
“I have spoken also with the Member for Woodridge Desley Scott, and I know she shares these concerns.
“I immediately began investigating any avenues of action open to me as the new Minister and have worked on this issue over the weekend.
“While the call-in period expired during the time in which the government was in caretaker mode, I have today authorised the Department of Local Government, Planning and Sport to join in the case.
“There are significant issues surrounding the siting of noxious industries and I want to ensure that these matters are represented in the court case.
The Environmental Protection Agency is also joining the court case.
