Regional Queenslanders are being made even more welcome on the main Queensland Government website from today.
Minister for Communities Warren Pitt today launched the regionally-customised Queensland Government website at the inaugural Western Forum in Longreach.
Mr Pitt said the new look website now delivered regional information in a much more accessible format.
“Instead of users having to navigate the site from a whole-of-state basis, they can now simply select their local region and avail themselves of relevant, regional information.
“This includes the weather forecast and a host of links to places like local hospitals, child safety centres and Seniors Card discounts.
“In market research last year, regional Queenslanders told us they wanted information about what the government was doing for them to relate to their local area. I am pleased to launch this reconfigured website and confirm that their information needs are being met in a much more user-friendly way.”
The website, www.qld.gov.au, already features nine of Queensland’s 10 regions, with Greater Brisbane region due to go online soon.
The two-day Western Forum is being held to discuss the implementation of the Blueprint for the Bush, a 10-year plan to help secure a sustainable future for rural communities.
Mr Pitt said the Blueprint was a comprehensive and far-reaching plan for rural and remote Queensland that would assist in the social, economic sustainability and growth of rural communities for the next 10 years and beyond.
“It involves initial new investment of $153.4 million for specific initiatives, as well as bringing a more coordinated approach to already significant investment in services and infrastructure across a range of areas”, he said.
