GOLD COAST BUSINESS WINS QUEENSLAND EXPORTER OF THE YEAR

Gold Coast companies have won two of the highest accolades for exporting excellence at the Premier of Queensland’s Export Awards 2006.
In a coup for the Gold Coast region, Riviera Marine has won the prestigious Queensland Exporter of the Year Award. In addition to being the overall winner, Riviera also won the Large Advanced Manufacturer category.
Beaudesert-based Barrier Reef Pools was named the Queensland Regional Exporter of the Year – the top award for a regional business achieving success on the world stage – and was also a finalist in the Emerging Exporter category.
The two Gold Coast businesses were among 13 winners from throughout Queensland to take home a State export award.
Congratulating Riviera Marine and Barrier Reef Pools, Premier and Minister for Trade Peter Beattie said Queensland’s exporting performance has never been better thanks to innovative businesses selling their products to the world.
“Riviera Marine, Australia's largest luxury boat builder, is a fantastic example of a company thriving in the international marketplace,” Mr Beattie said.
“Each year the company sells approximately 380 Flybridge Convertibles, Sport Cruisers and Sport Yachts in 30 countries around the world.
“Its Coomera boat-building facility is the biggest of its kind in the southern hemisphere and employs 1,200 highly skilled craftspeople, including 200 apprentices who are taught at an in-house training complex.”
Mr Beattie said Barrier Reef Pools has grown to become one of Australia’s largest fibreglass pool manufacturers and distributors.
“Since starting out more than 25 years ago, the company now has 100 staff at its Beaudesert site, and a network of more than 50 agents throughout Australia,” he said.
“The company’s swimming pools are in backyards all over the country.
“After discovering the pools were sought-after internationally, Barrier Reef Pools opened up markets in the Middle East, U.S.A., Fiji, PNG, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines.
“Both Riviera Marine and Barrier Reef Pools are true Queensland exporting success stories.”
