Natural Resources and Water seeks graduates

The Queensland Government’s Department of Natural Resources and Water is looking for university graduates to take up the challenge of helping shape the State’s future.

Natural Resources and Water Minister Kerry Shine said the department was advertising for 11 graduates from a wide range of disciplines.

“The Department works closely with industry, landholders and the community to ensure Queensland’s natural resources – our water, land and vegetation – are used sustainably,” Mr Shine said.

“To do this work, the Department needs staff with qualifications across a wide range of disciplines across the State.”

Graduates are offered a starting salary of $42,000 annually and a structured 12-month program which gives them a broad overview of the workings of the Queensland public sector as well as experience within their own areas of expertise.

Mr Shine said graduates who had completed their degrees in the past 12 months or people who would complete a degree by the end of 2006 were invited to apply.

Applicants require degrees in the following disciplines:

·Law

·Arts/Public Policy

·Business

·Economics

·Finance/Accounting/Commerce

·Engineering (Civil, Environmental, Agricultural)

·Chemistry/Science; Forestry; Environmental Management/Environmental Science; Land/Water/Natural Resource Management

·Human Resource Management/Industrial Relations; Marketing/Communications/Media/Journalism/Business Communication.
