The Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries has taken out two state level awards in the 2006 Australian Marketing Institute (AMI) National Awards for Marketing Excellence announced in Brisbane today.

Minister Tim Mulherin congratulated staff on an outstanding achievement.

“To win an award in just one category is an excellent achievement but to win in two categories is exceptional,” Mr Mulherin said.

“Our Strategic Leadership and Culture Unit submitted two nominations, the first being Stakeholder Engagement - Building Strategic Relationship in the Relationship Marketing category.

“This submission encompassed the engagement forums and dialogue processes implemented with key stakeholders groups from industry, agribusiness, other Government agencies, communities and with our staff.

“The second nomination was in the Internal Marketing category and covered the transformation, cultural change and realignment of the Department from a traditional rural services and research agency to an economic development agency.

“Both of these nominations were judged to be best in their respective categories, which is a terrific outcome and testament to the hard work by the staff involved in these projects.”

The recipients of these awards now join other state winners from around the country as finalists going into the national awards, which will be announced in Melbourne next month.
