Minister for Tourism, Fair Trading and Wine Industry Development
The Honourable Margaret Keech
The Queensland Outback has been the real winner in a special online giveaway that exceeded all expectations, Tourism Minister Margaret Keech said today.
Mrs Keech said the August e-newsletter offered a complimentary Australian Geographic Outback Pack, which included a DVD and map, to the first 1500 subscribers.
“The Beattie Government through Tourism Queensland and the Outback Queensland Tourism Authority partnered with Australian Geographic to film the DVD as part of The Best of Australia series,” Mrs Keech said.
“The lure of the Outback was so great to so many browsers that we received 6000 requests by the end of the month.
“Clearly, people are fascinated by this special part of Queensland.
“Because of the enormous demand, an additional 6000 DVD packs have been provided by Australian Geographic so subscribers will not be disappointed.
“Now people can marvel at the amazing scenery and the colourful characters by watching the DVD, following along on the touring map that is provided and perhaps plan their own holiday to the region.
“The internet is an incredible resource for promoting and marketing our diverse destinations and this offer has also served to identify people with a special interest in the Outback.
”No matter where you are, with just a few clicks on the queenslandholidays.com.au website, you can be exploring the Outback – or anywhere else you’d like to travel in Queensland – and find everything you need from what to do and see, accommodation, tours, events, transport options and special deals.”
