Limestone Creek Road upgrade kicks off first part of Yeppoon Western Bypass
Transport and Main Roads Minister Paul Lucas said today RoadTek Asset Services (North) would carry out the $998,000 contract to upgrade a 1.8km section of the road.
"This section of Limestone Creek Road is located within the Yeppoon Western Bypass and is the first section to be constructed,'' he said.
"The Beattie government has recognised the continued strong growth in the region by committing $26 million of extra funding for the Yeppoon Western Bypass and Tanby Road upgrades.
"The section of Limestone Creek Road being upgraded currently has a narrow seal for .73km and gravel for the remaining 1.07km.
"The work, to be carried out by RoadTek Asset Services (North), will upgrade the section of Limestone Creek Road, west from Corduroy Creek Road intersection for 1.8km to an 8m-wide, fully sealed formation.'' Member for Keppel Paul Hoolihan said of the $26 million Beattie Government commitment, $10 million would go to Livingstone Shire Council for the upgrade of Tanby Road - this work would also include the Kinka Connection road. "This project is being constructed in conjunction with the Yeppoon Western Bypass,'' he said.
Mr Hoolihan said drainage work at Limestone Creek was now being finalised to allow the Limestone Creek Road project to start next month.
"This project, due for completion in September 2005, will provide jobs for 20 people for two months,'' he said.
"Property acquisition and design is well advanced on adjoining sections and delivery of this total project is on target to meet the June 2007 timeframe.''
