Mt Crosby Road to be upgraded at North Tivoli

A new, $1.6 million project will improve Mt Crosby Road at North Tivoli, Transport and Main Roads Minister Steve Bredhauer said today.

Mr Bredhauer said RoadTek Asset Services had been awarded the contract to upgrade the road between Sandy Creek and the Warrego Highway.

"The existing road surface is in poor condition, with roughness which has developed over several years," he said.

"This job will completely resurface 650m of the road south of where it joins the Warrego Highway and complete the upgrade program for Mount Crosby Road between Ipswich CBD and Mount Crosby.

"The work will tie in with improvements a developer is making to the intersection opposite CSR concrete plant."

The developer will contribute about $650,000 to the project.

Member for Ipswich West Don Livingstone welcomed the project which he said would improve safety on Mount Crosby Road.

"The work will include the turnout at the development incorporating an acceleration and merge lane, heading north," Mr Livingstone said.

"Kerb and channelling will be added to the western side of the road. The new turnout will have lighting and asphalt will be placed over the whole width of the road."

Work will start in January 2004 and, with favourable weather conditions, will finish by the end of April 2004.
