Gold Coast manufacturer backed to produce more products locally
- Gold Coast skincare manufacturer to expand local production and create more jobs through new Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grants Program.
- 18 manufacturers awarded $12.5 million in grants, with 11 based in regional Queensland.
- The Crisafulli Government's Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grants Program is delivering better services through a stronger economy after a decade of decline under Labor.
A Gold Coast manufacturer will be able to make more of its skincare products at home thanks to a $1.3 million grant from the Crisafulli Government’s Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grant Program.
MooGoo Skincare makes over 60 natural skincare products and supplies major retailers including pharmaceutical chains across the country.
The company will use the funding to install new equipment that will allow it to produce more products at its Gold Coast base rather than having to outsource to interstate contractors.
The project is expected to create 25 jobs and lead to the upskilling of 42 existing workers.
It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering more jobs and better services through a stronger economy after a decade of decline under Labor.
Minister for Manufacturing Dale Last said the Crisafulli Government was delivering on its commitment to back Queensland manufacturers, strengthen local supply chains and create more jobs.
“Queensland manufacturers have the skills, the ingenuity and the ambition to compete with the best in the world, and our government is making sure they have the support they need to grow," Minister Last said.
“We had 119 businesses apply for the first round of our Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grants Program, which is a clear vote of confidence in our plan to drive innovation, boost productivity and make more products right here in Queensland.
“Eighteen manufacturers have secured a share of $12.5 million in funding, including 11 from regional Queensland, demonstrating that our investment is delivering opportunities right across the State.
“Importantly the successful projects are expected to create more than 300 new jobs and lead to the upskilling of more than 550 existing workers.”
Member for Burleigh Herman Vorster said the investment was a significant win for Gold Coast manufacturing and local workers.
“The Gold Coast is home to some outstanding businesses and MooGoo Skincare is proof that you don’t have to look beyond our own backyard to find world class manufacturing capability,” Mr Vorster said.
“This investment means a successful local business can expand its operations, manufacture more products here on the Gold Coast and create 25 new jobs.
“We want to see more Gold Coast businesses growing, employing local people and having confidence to invest in the future.”
MooGoo Skincare CEO Melody Livingstone said the grant would help the company expand operations and recruit more workers.
"As demand for MooGoo products continues to grow, expanding our local manufacturing capability means we can create new jobs, develop new skills within our workforce and keep more of our operations in Queensland,” Ms Livingstone said.
“MooGoo has always believed in making great products locally wherever possible, and this grant will help us take that commitment even further.
"We're grateful for the Queensland Government's support through the Transforming Queensland Manufacturing Grants Program."
