Community safety improved for Brisbane with expanded CCTV network

• The Crisafulli Government delivers on a key election commitment to make Queensland safer, with $1 million security upgrades completed in Brisbane. 
• The Citysafe CCTV network has been expanded across inner-city suburbs, including Fortitude Valley, Spring Hill and Bowen Hills.

The Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer and delivering on a key election commitment, with significant CCTV infrastructure upgrades completed in partnership with Brisbane City Council. 

A $1 million Crisafulli Government investment has funded the expansion of CCTV networks in the inner-city suburbs of Fortitude Valley, Spring Hill and Bowen Hills and new CCTV technology for the northern suburbs of Mitchelton, Keperra and Alderley across Brisbane. 

The enhanced CCTV includes the installation of 17 new cameras, backing council and police to prevent local crime and meet community safety needs. 

After years of Labor failing to take community safety seriously, the Crisafulli Government is delivering practical measures to restore safety where you live and give local communities greater confidence after a decade of decline under Labor.   

This investment forms part of the Crisafulli Government's commitment to delivering safer communities through targeted local infrastructure and crime prevention initiatives.   

Minister for Local Government and Water Ann Leahy said the completed projects reflect the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to making Queensland safer. 

“We promised Queenslanders we would take action to restore safety where they live, and we are delivering on that commitment for Brisbane residents,” Minister Leahy said. 

“These vital CCTV upgrades will support council and police in reducing local crime and improving public safety. 

“I thank Brisbane City Council for their partnership to complete these important projects, which will help deliver safer streets for the local community and visitors to the city alike." 

Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the upgraded CCTV infrastructure would help improve safety across the city. 

“We will always stand up for Brisbane on crime and this investment will make a real difference in creating safer streets for Brisbane residents and visitors,” Cr Schrinner said. 

“These new CCTV cameras will add to our existing network, deterring crime and providing police with better tools to respond quickly to incidents. 

“By working together with the Crisafulli Government, we can deliver these important improvements to keep our community safe and protect Brisbane’s incredible lifestyle.”
