Minister for Transport and Main Roads
The Honourable Brent Mickelberg
Statement from the Minister for Transport and Main Roads
This afternoon, Queensland Rail has secured a major step towards restoring rail services for Queensland commuters with an in-principle agreement being reached on all remaining enterprise agreements – which is in line with the Government’s central wages policy.
The breakthrough marks a significant milestone in returning the network to full strength after months of union disruption.
Queensland Rail is on track to restore a full timetable by the end of November, with the return of an additional 417 weekly train services.
This is a major win for Queensland commuters and I want to thank Queensland Rail, employees, unions and the Fair Work Commission for helping reach this outcome.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering affordable and reliable public transport through permanent 50 cent fares locked into law and major investments in our rail network and together with these additional services, this outcome will help more Queenslanders get home safer and sooner.
