Touring arts experiences to take centre stage in more Queensland communities

  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering almost $1.2 million for Round 1 of the Touring Queensland Fund to support Queenslanders’ access to exceptional live arts experiences.    
  • The Fund allows 17 Queensland artists and organisations to bring more live music, theatre, exhibitions, and workshops in circus, dance, literature and music compositions to regional and rural Queensland.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering for the arts to through its ten year Queensland’s Time to Shine strategy, after a decade of decline under Labor. 

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for the future of Queensland’s vibrant arts sector with new touring funding to support 17 Queensland arts organisations and artists to hit the road and activate quality experiences. 

Round 1 of the Touring Queensland Fund grant worth nearly $1.2 million will be invested to enable more Queenslanders to enjoy live arts experiences including contemporary music, chamber music performances, exhibitions, writing programs, theatre and workshops.  

Almost half of the successful applicants, including Shock Therapy Arts, Somerset Storyfest and Ensemble Q Australia will tour with works designed specifically for children and young people. 

While Bring a Plate Dance and Indelarts will each receive an additional $10,000 to support the access needs of artists, audiences, performers, collaborators and participants with a disability. 

Minister for Education and the Arts John-Paul Langbroek said the Touring Queensland Fund delivered on the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to strengthen access to the arts for all Queenslanders.    
 
“No matter where in Queensland, communities deserve to experience high quality arts, culture and events,” Minister Langbroek said. 
 
“This forms part of our new arts plan Queensland’s Time to Shine, a 10-year strategy for arts and culture. 
 
“Successful applicants will hit the road and perform in regions including Cairns, Longreach, St George, Central Queensland, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba.       

“Congratulations to the recipients of the Touring Queensland Fund who will deliver fantastic arts experiences, create job opportunities and contribute to strengthening Queensland’s reputation as a vibrant cultural destination.

“After a decade of decline under Labor, the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future through a better lifestyle, thriving creative scene and world-class visitor experiences in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 

Indel-Ability Arts Ltd received funding to tour Mystery Quest, an interactive theatre experience for children aged 8–12 years, performed by artists with and without disability and neurodivergence.   

"Indelarts is grateful to receive Touring Queensland funding to support the regional tour of our children's show, Mystery Quest,” Rebecca Alexander, Co-Artistic Director, Indelarts said.   

“This funding is vital as it enables us to bring immersive and engaging, high-quality arts experiences to regional communities, ensuring students and families outside major cities have access to creative opportunities that inspire imagination and curiosity.  

“We are proud of this work and can't wait to take it on the road.”
