Crisafulli Government’s vision ensures Queenslanders poised to maximise Free Trade Agreement benefits

  • Planning and vision ensures Queensland exporters are able to capitalise on Free Trade Agreement with European Union.
  • Queensland businesses to be supported by the Crisafulli Government to navigate market complexities.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy by positioning Queensland to take full advantage of opportunities after the former Labor Government left Queensland's international relations in tatters from their decade of decline.

The Crisafulli Government is positioning Queensland exporters to capitalise on Australia's Free Trade Agreement with the European Union, as it continues to deliver a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.

The Free Trade Agreement stands to strengthen Queensland’s position as a strategic partner to the European Union in critical minerals and clean energy supply chains, presenting opportunities to leverage increased investment.

Recognising the opportunities that await Queensland businesses in the market, the Crisafulli Government launched the Queensland-Europe & United Kingdom Trade and Investment Strategy 2025-2028, and made the market one of the State’s priorities for trade missions.

After Labor’s decade of decline saw international relationships left in tatters, the Crisafulli Government is repairing our relationship with the region, expanding the State’s presence in Europe to ensure Queensland exporters have on the ground expertise to help them capitalise on the agreement.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, and ensuring Queensland is open for business to deliver more jobs for Queenslanders.

Trade and Investment Queensland has also launched the Queensland Exporter Academy, which provides direct support for businesses looking to start or expand their exporting capabilities, including those looking to do so with the EU.

Minister for Finance, Trade and Employment and Training Ros Bates said the new Free Trade Agreement presented a huge opportunity for Queensland businesses.

“This is the QueensLand of Opportunity, and I want businesses across the State to know we’re here to help them take full advantage of this new agreement,” Minister Bates said.

“More exports means more jobs for more Queenslanders, particularly in our regions where our exporters thrive.

“We know Queensland’s critical minerals are among the most sought after in the world, and our exporters now have a clear path to get them to the European Union.

“Queensland is back open for business under the Crisafulli Government. We’re repairing the relationships Labor left to rot and putting our businesses front and centre to capitalise on this agreement.

“We’re delivering an expanded presence in the EU so our exporters have the help and support they need to succeed on the world stage.

“Our strategic planning has put the State in pole position to capitalise on the FTA, and I look forward to the many success stories we’ll see as a result,” Minister Bates said.

FTA negotiations are managed by the Federal Government.
