Crisafulli Government delivers a better lifestyle for Bribie Island with new On Demand Transport service

  • Residents of Bribie Island are set to benefit from a brand‑new On Demand Transport service, with an experienced local operator locked in to deliver the three‑year trial.
  • Under Labor, Bribie Island residents were left with limited, inflexible transport options that didn’t reflect how the community lives, works, or travels.
  • With fares set by the LNP’s Permanent 50 Cent Fares, passengers will have access to an affordable option that supports cost‑of‑living relief.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering an election commitment, providing an innovative transport model that supports a better lifestyle and a stronger economy.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering on another key election commitment for the residents of Bribie Island, with a new On Demand Transport service set to launch later this year.

Experienced local operator, Caboolture Bus Lines, has been confirmed to deliver the three-year trial, which will provide a flexible, affordable and modern public transport option designed for the needs of the local community after they were ignored during the former Labor Government's decade of decline.

Residents will be able to use the service for just 50 cents - due to the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares - to help them get to work, healthcare, shopping and social activities after Labor neglected public transport links on Bribie Island.

The trial service will expand transport access to areas not currently serviced by traditional bus routes and strengthen connections into the wider Translink network, and operate seven days a week, with early morning and evening travel options to better align with work hours and community needs.

The new Bribie Island On Demand Transport service builds on successful models already operating across Queensland.

Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said communities like Bribie Island missed out on real public transport improvements under the former Labor Government, which left people more reliant on cars and isolated from essential services.

“This announcement marks a significant step forward for Bribie Island residents, who are set to benefit from an On Demand Transport service that reflects how locals live, work, connect and move around their community,” Minister Mickelberg said.

“We’re getting on with what we said we would do - unlike Labor, who failed to deliver modern transport solutions for Bribie Island throughout their decade of decline, despite repeated community calls.

“The trial will deliver a flexible, affordable, and modern public transport option, making it easier for a pensioner to get to a medical appointment or for a student to pick up an additional shift.”

Member for Pumicestone Ariana Doolan said, with the commencement of the trial, locals will, for the first time, have access to an On Demand public transport service that puts them at the centre of transport planning.

“During the election, I promised to deliver an On Demand Transport service for Bribie Island, and we are doing exactly that,” Ms Doolan said.

“Residents will be able to benefit for just 50 cents, thanks to another of our election commitments: the LNP’s Permanent 50 Cent Fares, helping our community counter the impacts of labors cost of living crisis.

“After a decade of being left behind by the former Labor Government, this is a genuine step towards a better lifestyle and a stronger economy for Bribie Island.”
