Queensland's heritage hotspots set to shine for visitors

• Crisafulli Government invests $580,000 for celebration and conservation of 19 state heritage-listed places.

The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future and preserving Queensland’s heritage with $580,000 for the upkeep of the State’s cultural assets. 

From the Princess Theatre in Woolloongabba to the Criterion Hotel in Warwick, 19 of Queensland’s heritage-listed landmarks will receive funding support for their much-needed conservation work with grants of up to $50,000 each. 

State heritage-listed places showcase the wider pattern and evolution of Queensland’s history and heritage, so they’re subject to strict requirements to maintain their charm.  

By using best practice in heritage conservation, they will maintain their heritage values while continuing to welcome people keen to learn about Queensland’s history. 

Minister for the Environment and Tourism Andrew Powell said the upkeep of Queensland’s cultural assets was paramount to ensure they were kept in pristine condition to preserve the state’s history. 

“Queensland’s heritage‑listed places tell the story of our state; they are precious pieces of our past that give us a glimpse into the lives and times of those who came before us,” Minister Powell said. 

“The Crisafulli Government is conserving these heritage assets because it is important for Queenslanders and creates opportunities for locals and visitors seeking enriching experiences that connect them with our history. 

“I’d like to congratulate all 19 successful recipients across Queensland, and we can’t wait to see the work they deliver in preserving and celebrating our state’s heritage.”
