The Crisafulli Government is delivering a smoother start to the school year for families, with new and improved bus services across South East Queensland designed to support safe and reliable travel for students.
Students will have access to 14 new school routes and 232 route modifications to better meet community needs, ensuring families enjoy a safe and stress-free start to Term 1.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland's future and cost of living relief for Queenslanders through the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares, after Labor's decade of decline.
Eligible students can access additional support to cover transport costs with the School Transport Assistance Scheme.
Before school starts again, families should check TransLink's School Service finder or Journey Planner to see if there are any changes to from last year.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said these changes will improve reliability, enhance safety and address overcrowding, while ensuring services align with school start times and population growth in key areas.
“As parents, we know a smooth morning routine sets the tone for a positive first day back at school. Understanding from where and when your child needs to travel can help ease stress and anxiety as households settle back into term time,” Minister Mickelberg said.
“That’s why the Crisafulli Government is doing our bit to make sure bus services get kids to school ahead of new bell times, with improved bus routes, timetables and stops after we listened to what the community and schools needed.
“We know Queenslanders are still dealing with the consequences of Labor’s cost-of-living crisis, so we have taken steps to make back-to-school time a little bit affordable with the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares.
“Those families who need assistance due to distance, income, or isolation may also be eligible for the School Transport Assistance Scheme.
“Route changes and the LNP's Permanent 50 Cent Fares are just another part of the Crisafulli Government’s plan for Queensland’s future after a decade of decline under Labor."
For schools or routes not listed in the journey planner, contact your local bus operator directly, as other fares may apply.
