Crisafulli Government delivers safer, smoother journeys for north Brisbane motorists

  • Major upgrade for 3km stretch of Anzac Avenue between Rothwell and Mango Hill to start late January 2026, finishing mid-year.
  • Upgrade forms part of a $7.2 billion investment into transport infrastructure for the north Coast region.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future after a decade of decline under Labor.

The Crisafulli Government is putting road safety back in the drivers seat with a major upgrade to Anzac Avenue – a critical north Brisbane arterial road.

The works will cover a 3-kilometre section between Diamond Jubilee Way and Kinsellas Road East in Mango Hill, through to Finnegan Street in Rothwell, and includes asphalt resurfacing and repairs, guardrail improvements and a full deck resurfacing of the Saltwater Creek.

It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a plan for Queensland’s future after a decade of decline under Labor.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Brent Mickelberg said the project was about delivering safety upgrades for our growing communities and smoother journeys for tens of thousands of drivers every day.

“Under Steven Miles and Labor, roads like Anzac Avenue were left to deteriorate while congestion worsened, so we’re getting on with the job of making Anzac Avenue safer and smoother for the 48,000 motorists who use it daily,” Minister Mickelberg said.

“The Crisafulli Government is getting on with it and delivering the road network Queenslanders deserve by investing $5.6 billion over the next four years to improve the safety and durability of roads across our State.

“The work on Anzac Avenue forms part of the Crisafulli Government’s $7.2 billion investment over the next four years into transport infrastructure for the North Coast region, which includes the local government areas of Moreton Bay, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Somerset councils.

“When it comes to road safety, the Crisafulli Government is not taking any detours. This upgrade will extend the life of the road, cut maintenance costs, and give drivers confidence and peace of mind in the quality of our roads when they take the wheel.

“We know roadworks can be inconvenient, but the decade of decline under Steven Miles and Labor make improvements essential. We’ll always work to minimise disruption, and we thank locals for their patience as we deliver a better, safer road network.”

Works will commence late January and are expected to be completed in 2026, weather permitting.
