Queensland driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers hit the road with new digital licences
- Driver trainer and motorcycle rider trainer accreditations are now available on the Queensland Digital Licence app.
- The app is becoming the go-to solution for secure, easy access to government services, with more than 1.2 million Queenslanders opting to go digital.
- The Crisafulli Government is delivering improved digital services for licence holders, while providing young Queensland learner drivers the tools to verify their trainer’s credentials.
- The Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start and a plan for Queensland’s future.
Queensland driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers are getting a smoother, more secure ride with access to new digital licences.
The Queensland Digital Licence app is expanding following the successful rollout of Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) licences to the app last year.
Queensland driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers now have their accreditations available in the Queensland Digital Licence app.
It’s just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering a fresh start and a plan for Queensland’s future.
The Crisafulli Government’s delivery of digital credentials ends several years of delays in the rollout of digital licences under the former Labor Government.
Driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers provide an essential service to Queensland’s learner drivers and riders by teaching the necessary knowledge and skills for effective and safe operation of vehicles on public roads.
Driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers have access to the app’s industry-leading security measures including:
-
protecting private information, reducing the risk of identity theft and fraud
-
storing multiple licences safely and securely in one place
-
understanding their licence status, whether it is active, up for renewal or expired.
This latest addition builds on the successful integration of QBCC licences into the Digital Licence app, giving more than 105,000 tradies access to nine QBCC licences.
Minister for Customer Services and Open Data Steve Minnikin said the addition of driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers to the Digital Licence app was another example of the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to modernising services for Queenslanders.
“By integrating with the Queensland Digital Licence app, we’re providing professionals with a secure and efficient way to manage their accreditations, ensuring they can focus on their work without worrying about carrying their physical card with them,” Minister Minnikin said.
“We are committed to giving Queenslanders more choice on how they access government services, whether they prefer traditional physical cards or wish to go digital.
“Improving our digital services also provides Queenslanders and especially our young learner drivers with peace of mind as they can verify that their trainer’s details are up to date and legitimate.”
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the Crisafulli Government was focused on making processes more streamlined and user-friendly for Queenslanders.
“The expansion of the Digital Licence app to include driver trainers and motorcycle rider trainers makes it easier for them to manage their accreditations securely and conveniently,” Minister Mickelberg said.
“By bringing these licences into the Digital Licence app, the Crisafulli Government is delivering on its commitment to modernise services for Queenslanders and give professionals more choice in how they interact with government.”
Additional transport accreditations will be made available in the Digital Licence app in 2026.
The Digital Licence app, which already provides access to digital driver licences, recreational marine licences, and photo identification cards, has been adopted by more than 1.2 million Queenslanders, with approximately 1000 new users signing up each day.
