Land released for new tourism opportunities on North Stradbroke Island

  • New tourism opportunities to be unlocked with a parcel of land on North Stradbroke Island on the market.

The Crisafulli Government iunlocking new tourism opportunities on North Stradbroke Island, with a prime block of land hitting the market to boost the island’s visitor economy and support local jobs. 

The 7,700 square metre freehold block at Dunwich, which sits near the ferry terminalwill be sold on the condition it is developed for tourism purposes. 

The parcel of unallocated State land was identified as part of an audit of North Stradbroke Island to identify new tourism opportunities. 

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Dale Last said the move was part of the Crisafulli Government’s plan to grow Queensland’s tourism sector. 

Straddie is one of the jewels of the tourism industry in Queensland and I want more people to enjoy what it has to offer,” Minister Last said. 

“The Crisafulli Government is delivering on our plan to deliver a better lifestyle through a stronger economy, and we’ve made it clear that this site must be used to build up the island’s visitor economy. 

This is a great location right near the jetty and I’m sure we’ll see a huge level of interest from developers wanting to create the next big tourism drawcard for Straddie."

Member for Oodgeroo Amanda Stoker said the land release would deliver real economic benefits to North Stradbroke Island. 

Straddie has so much untapped potential, and this land release sends a clear message that we’re backing local jobs and our tourism sector,” Ms Stoker said. 

This will bring fresh energy to North Stradbroke Island’s visitor economy and help secure a stronger future for local businesses. 

Our community want more tourism investment and more choice for visitors. The Crisafulli Government has heard the message loud and clear, and we are delivering.”
